At Fitbit, our mission is to help people lead healthier, more active lives by empowering them with data, inspiration and guidance to reach their goals.
We started our journey in 2007—as a team of two with one big idea. Since then, we’ve grown to over 1,500 employees, sold over 60 million devices, and built a health and fitness community across the globe. In fact, the Fitbit Community has taken enough steps to walk from the Sun to Pluto! Offering award-winning products, a top-rated mobile app and an easy-to-use online dashboard, Fitbit provides personalized experiences that help our users reach their goals. With a reenergized focus on innovative devices, interactive experiences, and enterprise health we are transforming the way consumers and businesses see health & fitness.
From your first steps as a Fitbitter, you will be at the forefront of developing new products. Our culture combines the spirit of startup with the perks of being public. We offer a competitive benefits package and amazing perks like unlimited snacks, Friday happy hours, onsite workout classes, and a strong focus on a healthy work-life balance. As part of our team, you’ll have the opportunity to grow your career, contribute your ideas to life-changing products and services, and—above all—have fun doing it.
Fitbit’s HQ campus is located in the heart of San Francisco with office locations in Boston, San Diego and around the world. Think you’ve found your fit
The Developer Productivity team is responsible for the build, testing, and deployment of Fitbit services from developer laptops to 1000s of servers. We aim to make it simple to reliably build and deploy reliable services. Everything we do towards that goal helps all the other engineers at Fitbit, so our efforts are a multiplier for everyone else’s efforts.
To do this, we’re building an integrated system for build, continuous integration, and deploy that allows teams to do all those things easily out of the box, while allowing them to be customized for individual use cases. To make that work, we provide a scalable, reliable infrastructure for the whole pipeline, along with clients to easily view and understand its status.
Finally, we support these tools and the teams’ use of them. That includes being on call for our infrastructure, responding to individual developer’s requests, meeting with teams to gather their needs, and evangelizing our work to have it be effectively used.
What You’ll Work On:
As a member of the Fitbit Developer Productivity team you get to play a few different roles:
Designer: We determine how the overall build process should work together among multiple teams
Developer: We build new systems to extend the build process, and improve existing ones to make it simpler, faster, and more reliable
Consultant: We meet with all the development teams at Fitbit to understand what they need to create features
Educator: We teach otherdevelopers what our tools can do and how to use them
