Serve as a software engineer or computer scientist responsible for providing software engineering and life cycle management services in support of embedded software products for military applications. Conduct, monitor, direct, and perform software or computer engineering activities and conduct or coordinate research, software design, writing code and development, implementation, diagnosing and fixing bugs, test and integration in support of assigned technology or mission areas which are applied across vehicle system lines or on emerging or fielded components, subsystems, and total systems. Conduct specific research and trade-off solution analysis, systems or software architecture development, coding, programming, or integrating software applications for embedded control systems, software transition, and product maintenance and support, executing market surveys, investigating technology transfer or insertion opportunities, requirements and specification development, contractor monitoring, failure analysis, configuration management, software quality assurance, writing documentation, communicating progress with management, peers, and customers, and collaborating with peers and partners, and technical support. Direct and participate in the preparation of program or project plans, documentation, engineering data and models, project schedules, budgets, and milestones necessary for the overall planning and execution of the assigned program. Develop, review, evaluate, and make recommendations concerning acquisition documents, priorities, schedules, cost estimates, budgets, milestones, and other program matters bearing on project or program assignments.
-Experience with embedded software systems
-Ability to model, architect, design, develop, code, integrate, test, or manage platform electronic software solutions
-BA or BS degree in Engineering or CS
-Experience with high-level programming languages, including C, C++, C#, Ada, and Java
-Experience with operating systems, including UNIX, Linux, QNX, VxWorks, and Windows
-Experience with development tools, including VMware, Visual Studio, DOORS, IBM Rhapsody, or similar
-Knowledge of instrumentation software, including LabView or MATLAB, Communication Bus, including CAN, USB, or Ethernet, and scripting tools, including PowerShell and Microcontroller
-Knowledge of applying ISO or IEC 12207 standards for software and systems engineering and industry best practices associated with SEI Capability Maturity Model Integrated (CMMI) Level 3 and above and Lean or 6-Sigma principles to software process engineering, management, and control
-Ability to apply computer software sciences and systems engineering theories, principles, tools, and best practices to address user needs and performance requirements with engineered, optimal, cost effective, reliable, maintainable, best-value, and embedded systems software solutions
-Ability to develop and execute software and electronics life cycle management, development, transition, and sustainment and support plans
-Ability to apply program management, project management, risk management, and value management techniques and principles to determine and optimize cost, schedule, and performance parameters from development to fielding for software products
-Possession of excellent oral and written communication skills
-Relevant course work depicting software engineering or development for embedded electronic systems a plus
