Job Description

We are looking for a highly motivated individual that is excited about learning new things, looking to grow their technical skills and be part of a fast-paced team that is delivering cutting edge solutions that drive new products and features that are critical for our customers. As part of theData Analytics team, our software engineers are responsible for designing, developing and ensuring the quality, reliability and availability of key systems that provide critical data and algorithms to our award-winning Westlaw and Westlaw Edge products. We use a wide variety oftechnologies within the group, from Big Data technologies such as Spark, Scala and Hive toadvanced machine learning algorithms.

Responsibilities of this role will include a mixture of analysis, development and testing. You will work collaboratively with other team members to verify the quality of the software being delivered and to assist in the troubleshooting of the systems.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Actively participate in the full life cycle of software delivery; including analysis, design, implementation and testing of new projects and features using Hadoop, Spark, Scala, Hive, Selenium, Java, Elastic, XML, SQL, Oracle, and several open source tools and design patterns
  • Design test requirements, plans and cases and in turn develop automated tests to ensure the quality of the software being delivered
  • Create, review and maintain technical documentation of software development and testing artifacts
  • Work collaboratively with others in a team-based environment
  • Identify and participate in the resolution of issues with the appropriate technical and business resources
  • Contribute to project development estimates and timelines
  • Generate innovative approaches and solutions to technology challenges
  • Effectively balance and prioritize multiple projects concurrently

Minimum Qualifications:

  • 4-year degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Mathematics or related studies
  • Experience with one or more programming languages and software engineering methodologies
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire for continual learning
  • Take personal responsibility to impact results and deliver on commitments
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently or as part of an agile development team
