The Software Development Manager is responsible for the overall success of the development delivery team. They are the gatekeeper between the developers and the rest of DO, serving as an advocate, liaison, and enforcer. Their primary responsibilities include:

Company Culture:
  • Be available to attend/participate as needed in any activity that may benefit by your involvement within the company
  • Be open at all times for input and interaction with all employees in order to support their needs and to maximize their moral
Day-to-day management of the team members:
  • Consistently have your "finger on the pulse" of what is going on, i.e.
  • Ensure timesheets are filled out and accurate
  • Help identify issues/problems being solved at the same time or previously solved across multiple projects
  • Proactively ensure the Dev team is providing "root-cause" solutions to issues as much as possible
  • Identify when to best implement process vs training

Serve as a point of escalation for internal and external, HR and task-related issues Provide an environment and attitude that fosters mentorship, learning and growth Processes, Training and Best Practices: Working with the VP of Engineering, CTO and other leads to

  • Create, document and enforce processes and workflows
  • Create training and learning opportunities and programs
  • Ensure development work meets company standards and best practices
Team Growth
  • Assist in the planning and execution of outsourcing, hiring and onboarding

Resource planning and skill matching:
  • Collaborate with Account Managers, Project Managers and Operations to assign resources to projects based on their knowledge and expertise

Report on departmental KPIs:
  • Magento 2 Certifications (%)
  • Churn Rate
  • Others TBD
Contribute as a Solutions Engineer (BA/BSA):
  • Working with account/project managers, the team, clients and prospects to understand technical issues and provide a roadmap for delivery
  • Creation of technical documentation as needed (use cases, flowcharts, requirements, etc)
  • Assist in the troubleshooting, debugging and resolution of complex technical issues
