This Position will provide systems analysis and programming support to the Comprehensive Center for the Advancement of Scientific Strategies (COMPASS). COMPASS primarily functions as a coordination center for cancer research consortia including responsibilities for data collection, management and dissemination. This position will work independently and as part of a systems support unit to build, maintain and enhance custom built web applications that collect and manage research data for multi-site studies.


  • Elicit requirements
  • Develop software features and reports to meet user specifications and regulatory compliance
  • Modify existing complex classic ASP and .NET programs
  • Test & debug new and modified software
  • Assist in the design of applications to meet user specifications
  • Create and maintain documentation
  • Assist in creation of application architecture and design for small projects
  • Collaborate with other members of IT staff and end users
  • Trouble-shoot and fix bugs
  • Deliver through all stages of the software development lifecycle
  • Follow software development best practices
  • Participate in code and design reviews
  • Perform other responsibilities as required


Minimum qualifications:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering or related field desired
  • 2 year professional web application development experience with ASP.NET and classic ASP on MSIIS Server
  • Hands-on programming experience using C#, VB Script, JavaScript, HTML, CCS and .NET Web Service. MS SQL Server
  • Solid knowledge of relational database, programming and implementing SQL Server databases with stored procedures, database functions and ODBC and OLEDB database connectivity methods
  • Strong analytical abilities and problem solving skills
  • UI Development experience
  • Enjoys working in a team environment and has a proven record of positive contributions to the work of the team
  • Demonstrated ability to manage ever-changing priorities and multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people

Preferred qualifications:

  • SharePoint programming
  • SAS programming
  • Experience coding to meet HIPAA and/or FDA validation requirements
  • Interest in biomedical research
