Position Description: Support for AFNWC/NTS (Surety & Certification Division)
The successful candidate will provide technical advice and assistance in the development, implementation, application, maintenance and sustainment, and analysis of software required to operate unique test equipment developed by the Air Force Nuclear Weapons Center (AFNWC) supporting nuclear compatibility certification testing of AF air-breathing nuclear weapon delivery platforms. This will include performing custom development and/or modification and maintenance of this unique software using Linux and other open and propriety software systems. The successful candidate will lead and support tests of the developed software in identified simulation facilities, platform system integration laboratories and on-aircraft tests. Real-time operating system (RTOS) environment. Cybersecurity concerns. Other responsibilities include writing and evaluating documentation for software, hardware, and related systems, leading and assisting with test activities.
Position requires candidates be able to obtain a DOD SECRET or TOP SECRET security clearance in order to access classified information (An active clearance is preferred). Inability to maintain a security clearance will result in candidate being ineligible for this position.
A bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related scientific/engineering field, plus 5 or more years’ experience, or a master’s degree plus 3 or more years’ experience is required. Relevant work experience may be substituted for specific educational requirements.
Applicants must have demonstrated experience with C, C++ or a closely related language. Python, Perl, bash and other scripting languages are a bonus.
Experience with Linux and RTOS applications is desired.
Embedded Linux and Device driver experience desired. Cybersecurity experience desired. Experience with Windows 10 and Microsoft Office desired.
Applicants should have highly developed interpersonal skills permitting productive interaction with technical and non-technical professionals.
Applicants must be able to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing.
Up to 10% travel may be required. Position is located in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
