Overview & Responsibilities

As a Rackspace Private Cloud (RPC) integration developer, you will incorporate open source solutions to support our organizational vision: To become the preferred brand for consuming complex open source infrastructure, as-a-Service, delivering industry-leading simplicity, efficiency, and reliability.

Our team directly supports the mission by integrating and improving upstream open source projects for deployment to our private cloud products.

Responsibilities

  • Integrate new and existing open source projects into RPC code base

  • Develop automation and testing to improve efficiency and reliability of RPC software deployments

  • Investigate reported bugs and provide upstream project fixes

  • Provide feedback and reviews of contributions from upstream and downstream teams

  • Engage with distributed team members via Slack, github, Jira, email and video calls

Qualifications

We're looking for candidates with:

  • BS degree in a technology related field required and 5+ years of experience in software development, engineering, testing, or a related field

  • Upstream OpenStack development experience

  • Solid Python development experience

  • Solid Ansible development experience

  • CI/CD experience (e.g. gate testing, Jenkins)

  • Application deployment experience within cloud environments

  • Excellent written and verbal skills

With bonus qualifications like:

  • Knowledge of messaging technologies (e.g. RabbitMQ, Kafka)

  • Document and relational databases (e.g. Mongo, MySQL)

  • Linux operating system internals

  • Virtualized networkexperience
