Your Role and Responsibilities

The opening is for a highly skilled and efficient technical DevOps engineer that handles the day to day operations of the IBM Cloud Object Storage using ClevOS (Cleversafe). Job responsibilities include the coordination and completion of operation related activities, troubleshooting and service restoration on time and within budget and scope. Oversee all aspects of operations, sets priorities and deadlines, monitors and summarizes the progress of their project. The successful candidate will work directly with his team and various teams within IBM Hybrid Cloud to ensure the stability and availability of the Cloud Object Storage offering.

The position requires a bachelor's degree and 1-3 years of experience in the field or in a related area. The candidate has to be familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures related to Cloud technologies. They also rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Able and willing to perform a variety of tasks to ensure the success of the project. A wide degree of creativity and latitude is expected.

Responsibilities:

• Use internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects

• Ensure their assigned projects are delivered on-time, within scope and within budget

• Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility

• Measure project performance using appropriate tools and techniques

• Report and escalate to management as needed

• Manage the relationship with the client teams and all stakeholders

• Perform risk management to minimize project risks

• Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors

• Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation

• Meet with peer teams to take detailed ordering briefs and clarify specific requirements of each project

• Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

• Use and continually develop leadership skills

• Attend conferences and training as required to maintain proficiency

• Perform other related duties as assigned

• Develop spreadsheets, diagrams and process maps to document needsRequired Professional and Technical Expertise

• 2+ years' experience of development and maintenance of programs written in C/C++, Python, etc

• 3+ years' experience with Linux or Unix based OS

• 2+ years' experience working with cloud deployments and maintenance tools

• Experience working with Automation and Integration processes and tools: Ansible, Icinga, Jenkins

• Github Enterprise and JIRA knowledge

• Experience working in an Agile/SCRUM-based environment

• Excellent client-facing communication skills (verbal and writing)

• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills

• Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience

• US Citizenship or Green Card required


Preferred Professional and Technical Expertise

• Experience with Cleversafe (ClevOS) and/or other Cloud Object Storage

• Have worked with Softlayer and Security projects

• Experience with cloud monitoring tools like: Kafka, Logstash, ELK stack

• Experience with cloud computing technologies such as AWS, VMware, Azure, and/or Soft-layer

• Integration experience with enterprise tools and back office systems is a big plus

• Master's degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
