We're looking for an ingenious Developer to join us in dreaming up creative solutions to our clients' challenges. Ideally, you will have a few years of experience under your belt and can work both independently and in support of a larger team. We use a variety of tools at Critigen, so it's important that you have experience deploying different platforms and frameworks and, just as important, learning new ones.

We need communicators that can work in a highly dynamic and flexible environment who wear multiple technology hats. Critigen is growing and we are taking the new challenges in new areas. In practice, this means that everyone at Critigen can venture beyond the job title, working with multiple technical stacks on different projects. If that excites you, great!

Our team members possess ability to get things done and release code. You'll need to write beautiful, elegant code every time. And at crunch time, getting things done right matters more than ever. You'll need do it right … and do it fast.

As a Developer, you'll use your ability to write query logic to figure out ways to qualify data and identify patterns that reveal insight. You'll also use your python or java skills to develop tools that automate your processes into repeatable scripts and procedures. As a developer, you will be responsible for being both a lead and support developer on a variety of projects. Some days, you'll be coding javascript and managing PostgreSQL databases. Other days, you'll be writing spatial SQL or implementing beautiful web designs. Your assignments will last anywhere from a day to a year (or more).

Key Qualifications

  • Passionate about clean, sematic code.
  • Self-motivated and creative problem-solver.
  • Experience writing Java, Python, SQL
  • Experience with Java JDK
  • Strong documentation habits
  • Experienced at managing code with git (GitHub).
  • Good understanding of responsive design, grid systems, layout and color, asset production, typography and a meticulous attention to pixel-level detail.
  • Great work habits, organizational, project management skills and flexible enough to roll with changing priorities and tight deadlines.
  • Experience working with and/or developing APIs.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with Angular 2, Material Design or other web frameworks.
  • Experience with Scala, Spark and other distributed computing tools
  • An understanding of browser compatibility
  • Experience with mapping/GIS technology such as Boundless, MapBox, Esri, or Carto
