Duties and Responsibilities (Duties may include one or more of the following):
We are looking for a forward thinking developers with to join our small cross functional product teams leveraging Agile principles. Join a team that is in the process of modernizing our solutions using the latest design patterns and technologies. Fast paced and outcome focused approach allows product teams autonomy to own the work centered on critical business and technical capabilities.
Uses knowledge of distributed computing techniques to design, develop and test scalable applications that operate on large volume datasets. Familiar with handling datasets containing mixes of structured and unstructured data. Transforms unstructured data into suitable forms for analysis and modeling. Performs extract, transform and load (ETL) integrations with variety of data sources. Writes ad-hoc scripts and queries, schedules batch jobs and develops real-time streaming applications and monitors. Background in technologies such as Hadoop, Spark, Pig, Hive, etc. Provides system software support for State Farm applications, components and testing software (testware).
About Bloomington, IL:
All positions will be located in Bloomington, IL. Bloomington is the location of State Farm's Corporate Headquarters and is 2 1/2 hours from Chicago, Indianapolis, and St. Louis. Bloomington is a mid-size community; an average 15 minute rush hour commute is a welcome change for those who have fought rush hour traffic in the city. The community is very active and is home to multiple universities including Illinois State University and Illinois Wesleyan.

This position will have an 18-month incumbency period, beginning on the effective date of the position, which must be met before the employee can post for any other lateral State Farm position. Employees may be considered for leadership or Technology Engineer openings at any time, and a promotional position within the same job structure (i.e. Professional/Technical or Para-professional/Support) after 6 months from the effective date of the position. In these cases, the remaining incumbency would be waived. The incumbency period does not affect the at-will relationship between State Farm and the employee and does not create an employment contract, nor contractual rights.
