Position: Social Worker, MSW

A licensed social worker is a member of the Case Management department. The social worker screens, responds to referrals, and attends patient interdisciplinary team meetings to provide social work interventions and assessments with patients and their family/DPOA for health care. The Social Worker will receive requests for interventions from many sources including; physicians, nurses, other health care personnel, patient, patient’s family or any concerned person or agency. The social worker’s intervention is based on self psychology and the ecological/holistic approach. The social worker views the patient holistically to assess the patient’s psychosocial needs. Aspects of patient psychosocial needs may consist of the following: spiritual, emotional, mental, physical, financial, and cultural. A patient’s psychosocial needs may become stressed due to illness or injury. The goal is to assist patients, families and significant others to cope with the changes and stresses associated with illness or injury and hospitalization. The social worker provides social work services to inpatients and is available for social work services to outpatients by referral. The social worker will assess patients for their psychosocial needs, counsel, and provide appropriate resources to meet the patient’s



  • Graduate of an accredited university with a Master’s degree in Social Work
  • Masters Degree in Social Work


  • Current license to practice as a Social Worker in the State of Nevada


  • Minimum of 5 years of clinical healthcare experience in an acute care hospital
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care case management / social work experience preferred
  • Knowledge of PC based computer software (ie Word, Excel, Access or similar system) preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to establish interpersonal relationships necessary to promote an effective working environment
