Kforce has a client in search of a SMT Quality Engineer in Tempe, Arizona (AZ). Responsibilities:

  • Functions as a Quality Engineer in the organization
  • Oversees and directs the activities of QA inspectors
  • Designs and implements methods and procedures for testing and inspecting the quality level of products and production equipment
  • Supports, maintains, and generates periodic qualificationreports
  • Performs and generates QCI/reliability testing and reports as required for qualified microelectronic products
  • Monitors scrap, rework, and other metrics as needed
  • Performs data analysis and recommends improvement in quality and yield
  • Establishes action plans to resolve identified issues
  • Responsible for ensuring continuous improvements in product quality, customer and supplier scorecards, and supplier quality
  • Implements SPC and monitors progress
  • Performs supplier audits to ensure they meet company requirements
  • Reviews supporting manufacturing documentation to ensure it contains the necessary criteria and provisions to permit effective inspection and testing of materials
  • Recommends corrective action for procedural, production, or process deficiencies
  • Analyzes reports and returned products, and recommends corrective action
  • Receives general instructions on routine assignments and detailed instructions on non-routine and new assignments
  • Responsible for performing FAI and submitting completed reports on all new products
  • Conduct internal audit using AS9100 quality management systems requirements
  • Exemplifies and fosters teamwork within the company
  • Promptly responds to concerns, issues, and suggestions and acts to ensure positive employee relations


  • BS or AS degree or equivalent
  • 3 - 5 years of experience working in Quality Assurance or equivalent years of experience
  • Electronics contract manufacturing and/or microelectronics manufacturing is highly desired
  • Experience with Space applications is a plus
  • Hands on experience and knowledge with AS9100/ISO9001 management system required
  • Mil-Prf-38534, Mil-Prf-38535, and MIL-STD-883 experiencepreferred but not required
  • Familiar with use of microscope and hand measuring tools inherent in this position
  • Proficient skills in Microsoft Office to include Word and Excel
  • Excellent people and communication (written and verbal) skills
