Job Description

Summary:
The Site Superintendent is responsible for organizing, coordinating and supervising the work of the Foreman, General Foreman and Craft employees on construction projects, ensuring that the work is performed in an efficient, correct and safe manner. The person in this role plans, coordinates and supervises new construction and remodeling of existing buildings under supervision of the Area Construction Manager. The Site Superintendent is also responsible for estimating material and man power needed for specific jobs.

  • Champion the commitment to safety, security, environmental and quality priorities and values throughout the MOX Project
  • Organize, coordinate and supervise the work of the Foreman, General Foreman and Craft employees on construction projects
  • Conduct interviews, schedule, discharge and trains employees
  • Determine work priorities and coordinate work activities within the design area; apportion work among employees according to abilities or specialized training
  • Coordinate new construction and remodeling in conjunction with Area Construction Manager(s), utilizing scheduling meetings, IPS (Integrated Project Scheduling) and reviewing project documents as needed
  • Collaborate with administrators on the supervision of all work operations
  • Responsible for the control of costs in materials and wages
  • Exercise control over rate of construction progress in order to complete construction project within time limits
  • Estimate material and manpower needed for specific jobs
  • Utilize Quantity Unit Rate Reporting and EVMS (Earned Value Management System) to develop construction plan/budget
  • Lead inspection and commission of day-to-day construction work to enforce conformity to specifications
  • Act as an advisor on job related issues
  • Assist individuals with information or service as needed
  • Collaborate with Labor Relations personnel to ensure compliance on employee investigations
  • Field questions from employees and managers providing interpretation of Labor Relations policies
  • Responsible for accurately keeping time and attendance of craft employees
  • Maintain a safety conscious work environment and supervise others in safety
  • Implement and enforce all safety procedures and work rules for craft personnel
  • Comply with the highest level of safety during all stages of project execution to avoid any type of incident and/or accidents
  • Inspect field work to evaluate construction progress, efficiency of operation and cost control
  • Maintain familiarity with a variety of field concepts, practices, and procedures
  • Resolve contract disputes and arrange necessary order changes

Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 10 years' experience reading technical drawings, piping, electrical construction, etc. or
  • Technical/Associate's Degree plus 8 years' experience reading technical drawings, working with piping, electrical, construction, etc. or
  • Bachelor's Degree in construction, mechanical, electrical or civil fields plus 6 years' experience reading technical drawings, working with piping, electrical, construction, etc.
  • Knowledgeable of all phases of building construction, including work commonly produced by building crafts
  • Knowledge of electrical, mechanical, and structural systems

Desired Qualifications:

  • Prior supervisory experience on a construction site or nuclear project
  • Quality experience
  • OSHA 300 certified
  • Knowledgeable of EVMS (Earned Value Management System), Quantity Unit Rate Reporting and IPS (Integrated Project Scheduling)
  • Effective communication skills--both written and verbal
  • Knowledge of building materials, tools, and machines
  • Ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints and specifications for building
  • Must be customer-oriented and flexible to changes in job duties/work location
  • Must be team-oriented and able to work well with others
  • Working knowledge of Word, Excel, email
