Job Summary

Imerys is hiring a Site Safety Supervisor for the Calderys division. The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to maintain compliance with all OSHA/EPA/NFPA/DOT and TS/OHSAS programs at our customer sites when projects and installations are being performed on Calderys’ behalf. Duties include developing technical policies, programs, and procedures to achieve regulatory compliance, providing technical assistance to site and facility managers, develop and maintain relationships with regulatory personnel, conduct internal audits, record keeping, industrial hygiene, risk assessment and hazard communications. This role is home based with 80% travel.


• Responsible for ensuring management complete accident investigations and prepare serious incident reports correctly.

• Responsible for identifying and assisting with correcting any unsafe conditions within the customer’s work site. Conduct and manage risk assessments as necessary.

• Implement corporate facility safety, health and environmental technical standards to be followed by the site personnel in compliance with local, state and federal regulations.

• Interacts with OSHA/EPA regarding formal complaints and inspections. Manage all activities related to outside governmental agencies and Non-Governmental Organizations.

• Represent the company at local, state and federal regulatory meetings as necessary.

• Determine the need for industrial hygiene monitoring (air, noise, heat stress, etc.) and conduct the monitoring or coordinate the monitoring with the appropriate agency. Review the results of industrial hygiene sampling and compare to established regulatory limits {OSHA, American Congress of Governmental Industrial Hygienists (ACGIH), Permissible Exposure Limits (PEL), and Short-Term Exposure Limits (STEL)}.

• Conduct facility inspections to determine potential safety and health hazards. Recommend corrective/preventative measures where indicated.

• Conduct accident investigations and cooperates in the preparation of material and evidence for organizational use in hearings, lawsuits and insurance investigations.

• Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), SARA Title III reporting, Resource Conservation Recovery Act (RCRA), Compliance and Community Right to Know Act.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Manufacturing experience and must be able to organize and manage multiple tasks.
  • Formal Leadership training is a must
  • Manage multiple objectives and deadlines
  • A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health Management from a four-year college or university with two years related experience and /or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience with a minimum of 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • Environmental regulation compliance experience required.
  • Professional certification preferred (e.g. CSP, CIH, CHMM)
  • Experience with ISO 14001 and OSHAS 18001
