Tesla’s Core Infrastructure Services team is seeking a Site Reliability Engineer (Traffic) to help design, build, and operate systems for managing Global Application Traffic(GTM). The CIS team builds global and local load balancers, application acceleration proxies, API gateways, content delivery networks, DNS along with the automation that’s required to operate a terabit scale edge network that handle all of Tesla's DNS and HTTP traffic across POPs, Data Centers, and multiple cloud providers.
Work with the team to design, build, and maintain Tesla’s Traffic systems/services for caching, load balancing, API gateway and DNS.
Diagnose and troubleshoot complex distributed systems handling large volumes of data and develop solutions that have a significant impact at scale.
Work and collaborate across teams like Applications, Services, Linux kernel and Capacity Planning, Hardware, Network, and Datacenter Operations.
Troubleshoot issues across the stack - hardware, software, application and network.
Influence architectural decisions with focus on security, scalability and high-performance
Automate the build and deployment of infrastructure using Docker, Kubernetes & other orchestration technologies in a hybrid-cloud environment
Setup and maintain monitoring, metrics & reporting systems for fine-grained observability and actionable alerting
Deep understanding of TCP and UDP
Deep understanding of HTTP, SSL/TLS and DNS
Strong Understanding of L4/L7 Load Balancing
Proficiency in a high-level language like Python or Go
Experience in working with CDN related technologies and associated performance metrics/measures
5+ years building and maintaining SaaS infrastructure
5+ years experience with Linux, networking, storage and virtualization automation with tools like Terraform, Ansible, Puppet...
Previous experience setting up and supporting CI/CD
Scaling through data-driven capacity planning
Troubleshooting and full-cycle incident response experience is required (mitigation, correction, prevention)
Experience with Envoy/Istio (Optional)
