Job Role Summary


This is an regional position responsible for leading and developing the shopper based design team for the US and Canada Retail Lubricants business.  The candidate would be responsible for defining, designing, and executing the key shopper marketing principles that improve the shopper experience.  The candidate would also lead the vision in creating the newly formed team through strong technical mastery, business acumen, and leadership skills.  ExxonMobil is a global leader in the passenger vehicle motor oil category across multiple channels with strong brands such as Mobil 1, Mobil Super, and Mobil Special.  This role will be located in Bentonville, AR..


Primary Job Functions:


  • Lead analysis of the existing in-store reality across multiple categories, and then leverage these insights to identify and activate against opportunities in a shopper-focused manner
  • Lead shopper journey understanding that can be used to influence future of in-store and online retailing at key retailers
  • Lead all shopper marketing projects from test through to rollout and lead creative agency work that brings the strategy to life
  • Work with the Sales team to drive volume growth, incremental distribution, and promotional activities using shopper insights
  • Identify key tools, investments, and skills needed to deliver against the overall shopper strategy and recommend detailed courses of action, as necessary
  • Experience with NPD in-market data for analysis, integration, and application to business
  • Serve as shopper champion of team and improve overall team understanding and effectiveness of shopper based mindset

Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in marketing or other marketing related areas
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in shopper marketing or related disciplines with minimum of 2 years of experience in a major CPG firm ‘customer/retail team’ assignment
  • Demonstrated experience in leading teams
  • Strong experience leading shopper marketing activities and helping to develop retail marketing plans and strategies, driving consumer, customer, and shopper insights into business recommendations 
  • Experience in training and developing less experienced members of a retail marketing team and cross-functional business partners

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:


  • MBA or comparable graduate degree
  • Leadership of  technical mastery (methodologies, integrative thinking)
  • Experience with retailchannel partners
  • Strong analytical skills (business performance assessment, analytics, consumer insights, etc.)
  • Excellent project management and collaboration skills
  • Good understanding of marketing strategy and principles
  • Strong leadership and influencing skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
