The Service Engineer I/II – VMware will be responsible for maintaining current virtualization services.  This role will primarily be responsible for working with a team that is responsible for leading and implementing server, application and databasevirtualization solutions based on all virtualization platforms. Responsibilities for this role include working on a wide variety of virtualization activities; capacity and utilizationreporting, server provisioning, server/storage updates. In addition, this role will also be responsible for maintaining a high level of service in the current virtual environments by providing technical support. Otherresponsibilities include working on issues as they are received through our ticketing and monitoring systems, as well as working with our customers on support calls.

 

This role will be expected to work across many departments and teams in support of delivering services to OneNeck clients; breaking down any barriers to ensure effectiveness and efficiency. The Service Engineer I/II – Virtualization continuously develops work instructions to ensure technical activities are conducted in a controlled and repeatable manner. This position develops technical plans, conducts technical reviews, and executes upon plans in support of incident, change, and problem management efforts. This role will be called upon as a subject matter expert across many departments and teams.

 

**Please note:  We can hire this position as a Service Engineer I - VMware or Service Engineer II - VMware. Requirements for each position are listed in the qualifications section. We will assess applicants based on skills set and years of relevant experiences.**

Responsibilities

  • Create plans for deploying and administering virtual machines. Establish and maintain service levels, perform basic troubleshooting, monitor vSphere implementations and manage vCenter server alarms.
  • Configure and manage virtual networks, virtual storage, and virtual machine management.
  • Define, monitor and troubleshoot system performance within the VMware environment
  • Execute the planning, installation, configuration, and upgrade support for vCenter Server and VMware ESXi.
  • Provide input on data protection, access, authentication control, resource management, monitoring, high availability, fault tolerance and scalable virtualized infrastructure.
  • Provide enterprise virtualization capability to install, configure and manage a highly available and scalable virtual infrastructure.
  • Plan and configure vSphere networking and storage solutions.
  • Maintain an awareness of VMware software patches and their impact on the environment
  • Deliver results in a fast-paced environment, while adapting to changing priorities.
  • Review existing technology and implement improvements/upgrades.
  • Proactively identify areas within the virtual environments to improve existing practices, procedures, and technology implementation

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

Service Engineer I - VMware 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) 4+ years of professional experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in VMware server based virtualization technologies in a diverse operating environment.
  • Availability to consult, assist and/or perform after-hours support and participate in on-call rotations. 

Service Engineer II - VMware 

  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) 4+ years of professional experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in VMware server based virtualization technologies in a diverse operating environment.
  • Availability to consult, assist and/or perform after-hours support and participate in on-call rotations. 

Other Qualifications

  • VCP certification preferred.
  • ITIL V3 foundation certification preferred.
  • Sound judgment and decision making skills.
  • Advanced analytical, statistical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong commitment to customer satisfaction and quality.
  • Results and execution oriented, self-motivated requiring minimal supervision.
  • Advanced communication skills regarding project teams and management.
  • Proficient with all Microsoft Office applications.
