Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Act as on-call for production system support during 3rd shift
  • Installs patches and upgrades to server hardware, firmware, and/or software
  • Performs, verify, and test routine system backups and restores  
  • Performs routine problem analysis and resolution design for systems and applications
  • Exercises independent judgment in the planning, scheduling, organizing, controlling and monitoring of IT projects
  • Actively participates in the maintenance, monitoring, reporting, and support of operating systems, applications, and services
  • Communicates with end-users, support staff, management and other systems departments
  • Maintains reports regarding system downtime, plans for preventative maintenance, and disaster recovery
  • Creates and maintains documentation of IT configuration, processes, and procedures
  • Participates in and supports capacity planning and the development of long-term strategic goals for systems and software in conjunction with end-users and department management
  • Participates in the planning and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure system provisioning and maintenance that is consistent with company goals, industry best practices and regulatory requirements

Preferred Skills

  • End-point management/reporting via Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM), Widows Server Update Services (WSUS), and GFI LanGuard
  • Endpoint management/reporting using Enterprise Antivirus Management server technologies (TrendMicro, Symantec Enterprise Protection Manager, etc.)
  • Previous Experience using monitoring/reporting tools: Microsoft System Center Operations Manager (SCOM), Solarwinds, Spotlight, Manage Engine ADAudit Plus, Manage Engine ADManager Plus, McAfee ESM, VMware vRealize Operations Manager
  • Previous Experience supporting the following: Microsoft Lync Server 2013-2015, Microsoft SQL 2008/2012/2014/2016 (DB Maintenance, Access), Microsoft Exchange 2013/2016 (Mailbox maintenance, Database monitoring) , Microsoft IIS 7/8, Linux support (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Administration experience on Microsoft Enterprise CA – Cert Requests/Monitoring
  • Administration experience on Microsoft File Server (DFS-R/DFS-N, ABE) – File Share Requests, Recovery, Permission Management
  • Experience with virtualization (VMware vCenter/ESXi, VMware Horizon) – VM Deployment, Monitoring, Configuration
  • Microsoft PowerShell Scripting for Server/Platform management
  • Microsoft Certified Professional, VMware Certified Professional, A+, CISSP

Qualifications and Education Requirements

  • BS degree in computer related curriculum and 3-5 years network and operating system support
  • Solid understanding of Windows Server technologies (2008 R2, 2012 R2, 2016 preferred) and Linux Server (RHEL, CentOS, Ubuntu)
  • Solid understanding of Active Directory administration, DFS, DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy management
  • Solid understanding of TCP/IPnetwork fundamentals and related equipment (switches, routers, firewalls, etc.)
  • Experience with SAN technologies (DataDomain and Nimble)
  • Background with enterprise backup (VEEAM, Data Domain, tape systems)
  • Experience with Cisco UCS Blade platform and F5 Load-Balancers
  • Must have well refined troubleshooting skills, ability to determine the root cause of a problem and identify and resolve systemic problems
  • Must be self-motivated and a team player
