Splunk IT is looking for a dynamic team member to play a pivotal role as a Sr. Wireless Engineer, in our Network Engineering team. Our focus is on using best of breed wireless LAN products, scaling fast, and maintaining a secure and performant infrastructure. This team is small but professional. We work hard, have fun, and are deeply passionate about network stability, performance, and scalability.

You will serve as a key member of this team by supporting ongoing wireless networking, tools, implementation, support, and monitoring. You will be highly inspired to constantly review and refresh the technology, with a superb opportunity to innovate within Splunk’s rapid-paced development environment.

Responsibilities: I want to and can do that

  • Implementation of wireless networking utilizing Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers
  • You will implement, upgrade and monitor various wireless network devices/software/services
  • You will bring the experience to implement, upgrade and monitor network intelligence tools like visibility switches, netflow, and packet capture
  • Benefit from Splunk core products for network monitoring and troubleshooting
  • Assist the Observability team in the creation of monitoring and detection solutions using Splunk products
  • Act as liaison with other groups and business units to support ongoing wireless network operations and maintenance
  • Collaborate with third-party support and service vendors to ensure that the network stays operational

Requirements: I’ve already done that or have that

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • 8+ years network engineering experience focused on wireless networks in a multisite or multinational corporation
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Extensive design, implementation, and operational experience with Cisco Wireless LAN Controllers, wireless access points, and management systems
  • Extraordinary experience with enterprise networking, monitoring, troubleshooting, and management tools.
  • You are often self-directed, with the ability to work alone or in teams, with minimal oversight, driving positive results in difficult circumstances while maintaining attention to detail
  • You can efficiently lead and deliver on multiple tasks
  • Ability to effectively engage and communicate as directed with a variety of audiences both technical and non-technical staff
  • You are able to explain complex systems and technical topics to others who may have minimal technical knowledge using oral, written and visual presentations
  • You champion and build a collaborative working relationship with operational and business partners

Nice to haves:

  • Certifications such as Cisco CCNP or CCIE (Wireless or R&S)
  • Cisco Prime Infrastructure Experience
  • Expert level understanding of signal propagation, RF and predictive analysis
  • Experience with Aruba Wireless platforms
