Primary responsibilities fall into the following categories:

  • Administration of server hardware, SAN infrastructure, OSs and applications
  • Deploy application upgrades
  • Develop and implement shell scripts to manage operational and administrative needs
  • Proactively identify and recommend updates to software, hardware, or architecture as necessary before reaching capacity limitations
  • Create and maintain technical documentation and standard operating procedures
  • Monitor for and troubleshooting/triaging system problems
  • Develop automated responses to incidents so that manual intervention is not necessary
  • Champion system metrics (MTBF, MTTR, etc.) and convey them to decision makers on a regular basis
  • Participate in scrum team activities

Skills - Experience and Requirements

A successful Senior Systems Engineer will have the following:

  • Bachelor’s Degree from a four-year college or university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related technical degree and at least 8 years of relevant professional experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 8 years of experience performing general Windows system administration including installation, maintenance, upgrade, configuration, performance tuning, troubleshooting and resolving issues
  • 5 or more years of experience with advanced Windows domain administration, including disaster recovery
  • 5 or more years of experience with writing code/scripts in basic programming/scriptinglanguages
  • 2 years of more of experience with Centrify administration

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience administering Linux systems
  • Experience with VMWare administration
  • Experience with EMC Storage Area Networks (SAN)
  • Experience with Agile at Scale, SAFe, Lean Systems Engineering, or Kanban
