Kelley Blue Book is seeking a talented Senior Software Engineer to join our technical team and help develop innovative tools and applications. The Senior Software Engineer writes and maintains code within applications and systems to implement capabilities and features, improve performance and maintainability, while reducing technical debt in alignment with product and technology roadmaps. The Senior Software Engineer plays a role in Agile planning, providing advice and guidance, and monitoring emerging trends. The ideal candidate will have a passion for the latest in AWS cloud development, Web Services, and JavaScript, working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, and will be driven to help push web development initiatives. Your Role:

  • Take an active role in the development projects for the website, both large and small, throughout the various phases of the project life cycle. Assess new initiatives to determine the work effort and estimate the necessary time-to-completion
  • Lead and mentor other team members to develop shared best practices and development standards
  • Maintain existing code and functionality once it is assimilated into the ongoing operations of the business
  • Implement unit tests and perform code review with the team to ensure code quality and standards
  • An interest in sharing knowledge about new technologies with the team and facilitating the implementation of such technologies across projects
  • Dedicated to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers; gets first hand customer information and uses it for improvements in products and services; talks and acts with customers in mind; establishes and maintains effective relationships with customers and gains their trust and respect
  • Document new development, procedures or test plans as needed
  • Knowledge of .NET and an understanding of classes and inheritance as well as the principles of code-reuse in object-oriented programming
  • Working in an Agile development cycle using advanced Scrum methodologies.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 5-7 years of experience in Software development
  • Solid problem solving, technical troubleshooting, and decision-making skills, as well as excellent communication, initiative and teamwork
  • Experience working in an Agile environment
  • Proficient in web development technologies including .NET, C#,, JavaScript, CSS and MVC
  • Proficient developing APIs, RESTful web services (Web API), and ASMX services
  • Proficient with single page applications (React/Redux/Angular) and microservices
  • Experience with Node.js
  • Experience with design patterns
  • Experience in AWS using Terraform (AWS) is a plus
  • Experience in writing complex SQL queries, SQL Server stored procedures, table functions, SSIS, and SSRS is a plus
  • Passionate about writing high-performance, reliable and maintainable code
  • A self-starter who is motivated by continuous learning and development
