As a Senior Project Manager in our Hartford office the candidate will have the opportunity to work on a variety of challenging stormwater, drinking water and wastewater projects in the New England area. Responsibilities to include managing work associated with the planning, design, and construction of infrastructure improvements. This position includes responsibility for leading project teams in exceptional delivery of projects related to green and gray infrastructure, conveyance, and asset management. Other responsibilities will include client account management related to assigned projects, ensuring compliance with Jacobs best practices and procedures, quality assurance/quality control, and project financial performance.

• Demonstrating the utmost professionalism and ethical behaviors, and consistently advocating for and adhering to the Jacobs’ sales process and procurement integrity guidelines

• Partnering with Regional Operations and Sales Management to identify new developments within multiple markets, and proposes growth-related initiatives

• Is familiar with and comfortable working in a matrix organization, and be an effective partner to the New England Operations Manager, and the Northeast Sales-Operations (Inside Sales) Manager

• Actively develops and refines client and sales strategies in partnership with Senior Management and Operations leaders

• Delivers new contracts and projects by developing, maintaining and advancing client relationships through direct contact and by winning proposals

• Leads the development of win plans, go/no-go decisions, and works closely with Inside Sales and Operations partners through the sales process

• Understands the nuances of engaging with project teams and related personalities to develop the right approach and team structure for a win

• The ability to craft winning proposals and presentations working closely with Operations and Sales Operations is a must

• Works closely with Operations as the project is delivered; provides meaningful feedback on how the team is doing in delivering client expectations

• Balances being a client advocate with safeguarding Jacobs interests

• Tracks and shares client relationship developments through call reports and sales database entries, and actively manages the sales pipeline in the Jacobs Client Success Platform (CSP)

• Demonstrates confidence, business acumen, negotiations, interpersonal and communications skills required to build and maintain effective relationships with clients and represent Jacobs in critical business dealings, relationships, and negotiations with suppliers and business partners.

• Leads pricing strategy development and pricing reviews, and develops bid and proposal estimates

• Shows an external focus with engagement in the community as well as the industry including attendance and involvement at technical seminars and industry events.

• Balance a combination of business development, client relationship management, and project delivery work.

• Lead multi-disciplined engineering teams on a variety of assigned projects

• Perform a wide variety of green and gray infrastructure planning and design services for water resources, wastewater conveyance, coastal engineering and asset management projects

• Lead the preparation of technical reports, engineering specifications, drawings and perform calculations in support of engineering activities

• Guide client organizations in review of designs, studies, and reports prepared by other consultants

• It is anticipated that 80% of the time will be focused on project management with the remaining 20% of the time focused on client development.

• The position will involve some travel



• B.S. Civil/Environmental Engineering field or equivalent is required
• M.S. in Civil or Environmental Engineering or related discipline and/or Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and/or Project Manager Certificate (PMP) is preferred
• Professional Engineering (PE) license is required
• At least 10 years of relevant experience in the Public/Private sectors of Transportation or Water/Wastewater Industries is required
• Experience and proven success in delivering a broad range of project types and sizes with diverse private and public sector clients
• Experience in the engineering consulting field with planning, study, design and construction of wastewater, water, stormwater and/or water resources related projects.
• Experience with reading and interpreting local, state and federal regulations.
