Somatus, the leader in value-based kidney care, is looking for a mission-driven accounting leader who is excited to lend their talents to help shape our story and message across key stakeholder groups – health plans, providers, and most importantly, patients.
Reporting to the CFO, the SVP, Corporate Controller will be responsible for all aspects of internal and external financial reporting under GAAP, adoption of accounting standards, developing and documenting required disclosure and controls, cash management and preparation of reports to the audit committee.
The SVP, Corporate Controller will work directly with the Company’s external auditors and lead all external audit and reporting requirements. The candidate will coordinate with other finance counterparts and establish systems and processes to handle the public reporting requirements.
Lead the preparation of quarterly and annual reporting to regulatory bodies
Ensure timely preparation of all financial information and presentations required for quarterly and annual reports, press releases and audit committee
Manage and own the year end audit as well as other special audits for the global company as necessary
Manage the treasury function including cash flow forecast and develop cash management and financing strategies
Responsible for assessing and documenting technical accounting impact and required disclosures for major transactions and audit memos
Will serve as the subject matter expert for all complex accounting issues. Research and document significant changes in accounting policies and standards and provide advice and guidance on all accounting matters.
Provide leadership and coordination of company’s internal and external financial reporting functions.
Ensure company accounting procedures and policies conform to generally accepted accounting principles.
Ensure the organization has a that an adequate system of internal controls surrounding the company’s financial reporting.
Partner with the SVP of Finance on all financial planning requirements (i.e., monthly reporting, budgeting, forecasting, long-range planning, etc.
Assist in improving the organization’s financial performance by analyzing and interpreting financial data and reporting to executive management.
Lead financial system improvements to ensure the accuracy and availability of financial reports for use by the business.
Direct and coordinate the company’s monthly and annual financial closing and internal reporting processes.
Responsible for hiring, developing and supporting the performance of departmental employees via coaching, succession planning and performance management.
Drive a strong controllership mindset throughout the corporation by providing appropriate financial support in the attainment of operational goals and objectives.
Lead the preparation and issuance of the company’s Annual Report and all other external reporting requirements.
Manage the relationship with external auditors.
Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance of business
Certified Public Accountant (CPA)
10+ years of progressive financial leadership role with at least 5 years in a senior level role with a publicly traded company
Previous auditing experience in public practice is required
Strong technical, research, problem solving and collaboration skills, including strong knowledge of US GAAP and emerging accounting issues
SEC reporting and disclosure experience
Experience in handling cloud-based accounting and planning systems and dealing company with multiple subsidiaries
A track record that demonstrates the ability to evolve quickly, influence others and execute in a dynamic, fast paced environment
Master’s degree in accounting, finance of business or Advanced Degree
Experience with M&A transactions and understanding of healthcare provider / payor financial reporting
