WSP is currently initiating a search for a Senior Tolling / Express Lanes Specialist for our Orange, San Bernardino, Los Angeles or San Diego offices. This is an exciting opportunity to grow your career as you work on a wide variety of managed/express lanes, highway, transportation, and traffic projects throughout Southern California and across the U.S.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee design, implementation, testing and operations of toll systems as owner’s representative, with a primary focus on lane side toll systems and integration with back office
  • Provide operations, management and program planning support to toll clients
  • Assess and develop policies and program initiatives to support toll clients and vet impact to existing implementation and operations
  • Conduct technology assessments against toll clients’ programs and goals
  • Conduct business policy and process assessment of toll business practices including traditional cash-based toll facilities, express lane and all-electronic tolling implementations
  • Evaluate and analyze express lane and toll projects and initiatives through market research and policy assessment
  • Provide program oversight and technical support of special projects for toll clients
  • Lead meetings and resolve issues in a timely manner
  • Assist in coordination between civil contractor and toll vendor
  • Work with client to set priorities and deadlines
  • Assign tasks to other team members and track progress
  • Proactively manage and mitigate risk
  • Develop proposals, scopes of work, fee estimates, and schedule for consulting services

Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • At least 15 years of related experience in large-scale toll projects
  • Knowledge of Southern California Toll and Express Lane facilities
  • Direct experience with toll and express lane project and program management
  • Familiarity with FHWA Systems Engineering process and Caltrans delivery process
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications

  • Work experience for a Toll System Integrator
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification
  • California PE Certification, or ability to obtain within six months
  • Familiarity with collaboration tools such as Asana, Slack, SharePoint
