The Global TradingTechnology Team of T. Rowe Price is seeking a Senior Technical Business Analyst (BA) with prior asset management industry experience. He or she will be responsible for acting as the primary interface between technology infrastructure and a specific business/functional area. Incumbents help define business requirements, create application and process specifications, coordinate with delivery teams, and ensure that work is prioritized by business value and in alignment with the overarching business and technical strategies.

May have dual reporting relationship to technology and to business/functional unit management. Incumbents may be involved in the writing of technical documentation/materials.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ability to translate complex or enterprise-wise business needs for new and/or enhanced products, services, or optimized business processes into detailed functional and/or technical specifications
  • Ability to work closely and develops relationships with a variety of senior level internal and external business partners to ensure that all business requirements are understood, documented, and met
  • Experience working on initiatives of moderate complexity, size and impact
  • 5+ years of related work experience
  • Demonstrates knowledge of the both domestic & global Financial Services & Asset Management industries
  • Understanding of workflows and data needs through the complete trading lifecycle (portfolio management, trading, compliance, operations)
  • Ability to breakdown complex or vague problems and steps through them in a rational way
  • Able to evolve a decision as new information is gained
  • Identifies opportunities for process improvements
  • Stays current with many best-of-breed technologies
  • Can articulate all phases of the software development life-cycle
  • Identifies system/process/data impacts (upstream & downstream) and proposes appropriate alternatives and remediation
  • Communicates technical concepts to non-technical audiences using multiple forms such as verbal & written
  • Ability to identify impacts across teams and coordinates to manage dependencies and potentially competing priorities
  • Experience with Order Management Systems (especially Charles River Investment Management System)
  • Proficiency in SQL database, queries and stored procedures
  • Experience with system integration
  • Offers & holds an opinion on how things should be done, but is willing to change
  • Principled in decision-making & thought leadership
  • Raises and addresses issues proactively
  • Critiques own work; can analyze & justify trade-offs
  • Helps others with problems by showing them how to work through them, not just giving the answer

Desired Qualifications:

  • Understanding of lean-agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of a range of derivative instruments across asset classes (equity, credit, rates, commodities and FX)
  • Knowledge of a range of cash instruments across asset classes (fixed income, equity)
  • Experience reading PERL, JAVA, .NET…
