Overview

Join AIR as a Senior Technical Assistance (TA) Consultant with our Adult Education Research and Technical Assistance Center (AERTAC) team within the larger portfolio of AIR's Workforce Development program area. The Senior TA Consultant will work on projects across a number of technical assistance federal and state adult education projects, with significant responsibilities on California based TA projects. The ideal candidate will have proven knowledge and skill to translate research and evidence into TA materials, to develop and support all aspects of adult basic education TA including materials development (i.e., facilitation guides, content webinars on various relevant topics, training curriculum) and to provide training and coaching support to adult education professionals. Experience with developing and implementing professional development within a California adult education consortium setting or within direct service programs is highly desirable. The Senior TA Consultant will be participating in business development activities including proposal development and professional networking activities.

The Workforce Development Program area supports the healthy, productive, and evolving workforce vital to the United States’ economy and democracy. We work together towards addressing structural barriers in the workforce across race, class, and gender.

Ideally this Senior TA Consultant will reside in California and will have the option to work remote or telework from AIR's Sacramento office.

Responsibilities

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Adult education team leadership: managing workflow, managing staff and subject matter expert performance, deliverables development and delivery
  • Client-facing presentation and meetings
  • Translating research and best practices into policy development and TA implementation tools and materials
  • Creating high-level action plans to implement TA solutions
  • Overseeing the development of implementation guides, tutorials, train-the-trainer guides, and other “how to” materials
  • Designing, developing, and implementing onsite and virtual training and technical assistance throughout the United States
  • Working with a diverse team, managing project tasks, technical expertise, and supervision of project staff
  • Reviewing, analyzing, and synthesizing information using appropriate practices and techniques
  • Disseminating findings through publication of papers, progress and technical reports and presentation of seminars
  • Acting as an advisory resource to provide comprehensive information, teaching and technical assistance to grantee sites
  • Evaluating effectiveness of services being provided and makes recommendations for change as needed or warranted


Qualifications

Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in education or related field
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in adult education and workforce/career pathways programming, with experience in integrated education training (IET)
  • At least 3 years of experience in the development and delivery of professional development and TA and project/program management. Must provide samples of professional development or technical assistance facilitation and materials
  • Proficiency and experience developing online professional development events and training


Skills:

  • Ability to engage professionally with stakeholders including AIR staff, consultant facilitators, clients and event participants
  • Must be able to coordinate and execute complex tasks and engage with both internal and external stakeholders to complete tasks
  • Excellent team collaboration, communication and customer service skills


Disclosures:

Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis. Employment-based visa sponsorship (including H-1B sponsorship) is not available for this position. Depending on project work, qualified candidates may need to meet certain residency requirements.
