The Systems Engineer provides overall Systems support. Tasks include monitoring, maintenance, reporting, troubleshooting, software installation, operating system install, automation configuration and repair of the servers and operating systems. Configuration of system components will be required. Must be able to work independently and as part of a team. This position can be performed on site. There will be a requirement for on call work on a reoccurring basis.
The System Engineer will install and manage all components of the server systems. Experience in hypervisor technology is a must and knowledge of Microsoft Server Hyper-V is a plus. The job duties will require experience in storage management with knowledge of HPE 3PAR preferred. Overall support of customer end-users, by resolving complex issues on our core applications/systems. Deploying security patches, operating systems, and gathering deployment statistics. Additional duties may include capacity planning, project management, and supporting a variety of other related technologies.
TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Bachelors and five (5) years or more experience; Masters and three (3) years or more experience; PhD and 0 years related experience.
BASIC REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 5+ years of experience in a broad range of assignments in technical tasks directly related to the proposed area of responsibility.
Competencies in Microsoft Windows Server, installation, service design, software delivery, and support in an environment that uses Microsoft Windows Server Hyper-V.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong problem- solving skills as they relate to analysis, troubleshooting, and isolation of complex issues.
ADDITIONAL PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Experience with automation and scripting would be a plus.
Any of the following IT certifications are also desirable for this position: MCP, MCSE, MCITP, CCA, CompTIA A+ / Network+ / Security+, ITIL, Linux+.
