Overview:

The Senior Systems Integration Systems Engineer will support the development of Auris' most advanced robotic surgical system. The primary focus of this position is being responsible for and planning of system integration activities, including leading the bring-up of a prototype robotic surgical system at the system and sub-system levels. The candidate will also collaborate with mechanical, electrical, software and robotic engineers in root-cause analysis of design, manufacturing and algorithmic flaws in order to increase reliability. The candidate will support laboratory use of the system and monitor system performance. The candidate will also support developing manufacturing procedures for system bring up. Lastly, he/she will assist in systems test development, execution and documentation.

Core Job Responsibilities:

  • Perform mechatronic system and sub-system bringup
  • Build prototypes and fixtures for data acquisition and analysis
  • Analysis of system data for root cause analysis
  • Work cross-disciplinarily to provide hands-on system troubleshooting and debugging
  • Utilize sound engineering methods and documentation processes to perform design reviews and failure mode analyses
  • Support clinical labs for user validation activities and cadaveric studies
  • Other related duties as may be assigned

Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, And Experience

  • Required: Bachelor or Master degree in robotics, mechatronics, electrical, mechanical, computer science, or equivalent areas
  • Four years or more working experience in industry or in a research environment - medical device experience is a plus
  • Understanding of electromechanical system design, implementation and integration
  • Familiar with electrical and mechanical principles of sensors and actuators
  • Familiar with digital control and signal processing
  • Familiar with real-time control systems (RTLinux, QNX, xPCTarget, Labview Realtime. etc)
  • Skilled in Matlab, Python and/or C++ programming
  • Ability to work independently and manage priorities on multiple tasks
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a regulated environment in compliance to ISO 13485 and 21 CFR 820
