Job Summary Systems Engineers are primarily responsible for deployment, maintenance, support, monitoring, and upgrades of HireRight’s enterprise infrastructure systems. Duties will also include providing escalated technical support to internal employees by troubleshooting and resolving problems with technical business systems, and collaborating closely with other Systems Engineers and business teams to improve performance, technical processes, and develop automation. Responsibilities

  • Manage, maintain, and configure HireRight’s large, diverse enterprise infrastructure
  • Install, configure, and troubleshoot data center infrastructure, including: physical and virtual servers, SAN devices, switches, racks, power devices
  • Perform preventative maintenance, patching, health checks, and regular capacity and resource planning to ensure optimal performance and security
  • Perform research and testing of security vulnerabilities and remediation, patches, hotfixes, and firmware updates to develop safe preventative maintenance strategies
  • Ensure compliance with certification requirements are met, including associated monitoring and maintenance tasks
  • Automate tasks with scripting and tools to streamline processes and simplify system management
  • Produce and maintain clear and detailed data center, equipment, configuration, and process documentation
  • Work effictively with and manage relationships with business teams to consistently deliver project deployments in a timely, organized, and staged manner across multiple platforms
  • Adhere to strict change control notification and implementation processes
  • Be part of a periodic 24x7 on-call support rotation


  • High School diploma or GED required
  • Bachelors degree in technology related field, or equivalent experience
  • Certification from VMware, Red Hat, or Microsoft is desired, but not required



  • Strong attention to detail combined with technical problem solving and organization
  • Excellent communication and team collaboration
  • Linux Administration, configuration, automation (RHEL distros - strong RHEL 7 experience desired, SpaceWalk, SaltStack)
  • Microsoft infrastructure: Basic Windows Server, Active Directory administration. Exchange, Systems Center administration and configuration desired, but not required
  • VMware vSphere administration, configuration, and automation
  • Cisco UCS administration and configuration
  • Load balancing technologies, preferably F5
  • SAN administration and configuration (EMC, Nimble, Cisco MDS, Brocade)
  • DNS and DHCP administration
  • Enterprise backup and recovery solutions administration (Veeam, Zerto, Netbackup)
  • Enterprise monitoring solutions administration (SolarWinds, vSOM)
  • Automation and scripting languages such as PowerShell, Python, JavaScript, Bash


  • 6 years general Information Technology systems administration
  • 6 years Linux administration (preferably RHEL derivatives)
  • 5 years VMware vSphere
  • 2 years Windows Server, Microsoft, load balancing solutions

  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
