Location: Brea, CA Senior Systems Engineer – Systems Integration (P3)We are looking for a Senior Systems Engineer/Scientist to be part of our Clinical Diagnostics Chemistry and Immunoassay Instrument R&D group in Brea, CA.  This is an exciting product development opportunity where the primary responsibility will be to perform the following Systems Engineering/Systems
Integration functions:

  • Lead the integration of new hardware and software designs with existing assay reagents to meet established performance expectations and improve products and services
  • Define system and subsystem requirements, design experiments to verify and validate requirements, generate test protocols and reports
  • Develop and direct internal and external validation efforts to ensure new designs and design changes meet or exceed customer expectations for quality and are compliant with federal and international requirements
  • Represent the Systems Integration team on cross-functional projects
  • Lead investigations to determine how existing hardware/software designs should be modified to meet new performance requirements, or to be restored to previously acceptable performance levels
  • Perform failure analysis of subassemblies and components
  • Collect appropriate data to define, identify, analyze, correct and prevent potential system failures
  • Analyze, summarize and present experimental data to solve complex problems
  • Exercise judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
  • Perform design FMEAs to drive system design quality
  • Facilitate FRACAS process



  • Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Biomedical Engineering or related field with 5+ years relevant experience OR Master’s degree with 3+ years experience, OR Doctoral degree with 0-2years experience
  • Good laboratory technique and analytical skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications (mainly Word, Excel, Power Point)
  • Able to work independently and on cross-functional teams with development groups at other facilities as well as take work direction and follow procedures
  • Work effectively with team members to develop goals and plans, resolve problems, achieve goals, and coordinate efforts within and across departments
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team environment
  • Statistical analysis skills
  • Ability to problem solve and think creatively
  • Superior organizational skills


  • Experience in IVD system development, verification, validation and interaction with regulatory agencies a significant plus
  • In-depth knowledge and experience in clinical laboratory science
