Title: Senior Systems Engineer - 57502

Your Responsibilities

As a Senior Systems Engineer, for the John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG-Urbandale), you will provide technical leadership in the design of solutions for a new generation of precision application products that are compatible with both John Deere and different manufacturer platforms within a customer's fleet. In addition, you will:

  • Work with customer teams (and customers directly) to understand requirements, and transfer these requirements into written technical specifications that can be used by hardware engineers and software developers to meet those requirements.
  • Pair with PV&V to define and execute system tests to verify designs meets performance objectives.
  • Perform other systems engineering tasks including component integration, design reviews, FMEA, and general problem solving.
  • Work with Supply Management, Sales, Marketing, and Quality Assurance to optimize designs for cost, quality, and manufacturability.
  • Become the recognized technical leader in the precision application product line, developing future roadmaps, evaluating future opportunities and leading continuous improvement projects.

What Skills You Need

  • 3 or more years of experience in Product Engineering
  • 1 or more years of software development experience
  • Must be a self-starter, able to work well without close direction, both in the office and in the field
  • Demonstrated technical leadership capability
  • Technical skills and knowledge in communication bus interfaces (SAE J1939 and CAN), GPS systems, wireless communications, and electronics manufacturing and test processes

What Makes You Stand Out

  • A farm background or work in the Ag industry
  • Experience in precision application
  • Familiarity with AUTOSAR development
  • Experience with development and debugging tools (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multi-meters, etc.)

Education (or equivalent work experience)

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering, Science or Technology related discipline
