Job Description

Boeing Defense/Space/Security (BDS) is looking for a senior-level (Level 4) Systems Engineering Lead for a variety of classified programs within Phantom Works.  This position will be responsible for the design, development, integration, test, and operational capability of various classified US government aerospace programs.  

 

This position is located in Kent, WA and does not offer relocation assistance. Applicants must reside in area or be willing to relocate at their own expense.

 

Responsibilities include: 

  • Developing, executing, leading and participating in various phases of multiple space programs to include concept studies, technical development, integration and testing of subsystems and space systems, and operational utilization.
  • Consistently recognizes a wide range of complex, specialized issues, problems, or opportunities in own work group, across the organization and with external customers; determines whether action is needed and implements solutions.
  • Consistently identifies implicit assumptions in the way complex problems or situations are defined or presented and sees alternative ways to view or define problems.  Targets important areas for innovation and develops solutions that address meaningful issues in own work areas and throughout the organization.
  • Works end-to-end program development from concept to test to operations to include conducting operational tests that validate system level performance.
  • Conducts business development activities to include customer contacts and proposal writing.
  • Involved with government aerospace acquisition programs.

Qualifications

Required:

  • Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.  BS Degree, preferred in the following disciplines: Mechanical Engineering or closely related. MS in Systems Engineering strongly desired.
  • This position requires an active U.S. Top Secret Security Clearance, with counter-intelligence polygraph. (A U.S. Security Clearance that has been active in the past 24 months is considered active.)  Please include status in your resume. Boeing Security will validate security clearance level.
  • 5+ years of experience with Systems Engineering involving the ability to plan, design, develop and verify technical solutions.

Desired: 

  • 5+ years experience in program management aspects to include managing cost, schedule, technical, and risk in order to successfully execute all aspects of an aerospace program.
  • 4+ years experience in a variety of government and/or commercial aerospace (spacecraft preferred) development efforts that utilize the following or similar software: DOORS, Simulink, MatLab, and CAD software.
  • 4+ years experience in end-to-end program development from concept to test to operations to include conducting operational tests that validate system level performance.
  • 2+ years experience in business development activities including proposal writing.
  • 5+ years experience in government aerospace acquisition programs.
