Senior Systems Network Administrator

POWER Engineers, Inc. - Information Technology Infrastructure Department has an immediate opening for a Senior Systems Network Administrator reporting to the IT Infrastructure Back Office Support Area Lead. The Senior System Network Administrator position is responsible for the day-to-day support, maintenance, installation of all network services. This position requires technical knowledge, and hands-on experience, with routers, switches, network caching devices, firewalls, VPNs, WIFI and telephony systems. This position is also responsible for having the ability to advise and cross-train fellow administrators, engineers, and individuals within the Tier 1 support organization. The Senior Systems Network Administrator will collaborate with POWER's IT organizational departments such as Infrastructure Engineering, Application Services, and the Service Desk to implement, support, troubleshoot, and monitor in concert with the infrastructure engineering plans and documented practices.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the technologies' day-to-day maintenance and operational tasks are completed
  • Deploy and install all network services
  • Execute changes to established technologies in a manner that is consistent to the Infrastructure Services Engineering plan and\or guidance
  • Monitor and report on technologies and services
  • Hotfix and patch deployment in accordance with engineering's test and validation processes
  • Manage backups and restore jobs for the assigned technologies
  • Possess advanced technical knowledge of the assigned technologies
  • Escalate to Infrastructure Engineering for break/fix support as needed
  • Perform Tier 2 support activities

Required Education/Experience

  • Five (5) + years of combined experience administering and operating global systems\networks including: multi-vendor, multi-protocol LAN/WAN environments
  • Demonstrable network support and administration experience; including configuration, procurement, installation, maintenance, upgrades, troubleshooting and lifecycle management
  • Experience with system monitoring and automation within global environments
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore teams
  • Experience working with insourced and outsourced IT Operations
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Excellent teamwork and collaboration skills
  • Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office programs such as MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Project, and Visio
  • Advanced analytic, organization, presentation and facilitation skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines
  • Self-directed, self-starter, and motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Working knowledge of network technologies: OSI layers 1 -7, Routers, Switches, Firewalls, and Wireless Ethernet
  • Working knowledge of network services such as, but not limited to: IP routing protocols (BGP, OSPF, and RIP), Quality of Service, PPTP, IPSEC and SSL VPN technologies, MPLS and VPLS Handoff Routing Methodologies, DNS, DHCP, Point-to-Point Connections, etc.

Desired Education/Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related technical degree
  • CCNA or equivalent
  • ITIL v3 Foundations and\or other relevant certifications
