The Sr. Systems Admin in IT Infrastructure is a prime (Subject Matter Expert) role that leads, assists in the design, architecture, implementation and ongoing operations and management of all elements of Server, Storage, Virtualization, Exchange Email, Database, Operating Systems and other platform related software technologies in Carollo. This position provides daily monitoring and support administration for ensuring the healthy status, availability of IT Systems and infrastructure for all on premise and support for cloud-based programs & applications. This position will plan, schedule and implement activities to resolve hardware and software issues/problems in a timely and accurate manner, minimizing impact to end users and help charter roadmap/strategies in the uplift of needed technologies to next generation and expected future needs. 


The ideal candidate is a self-starter, self-motivated, high-achieving professional with very strong knowledge and expertise in Systems, Storage, Networking and Security. This candidate should have a passion for technology and eager to work with fellow team members (across aisles and functions) in developing solutions that support business objectives, ultimately elevating IT support and service back into the business. This position will report to the IT Infrastructure Lead.


This position may be located at the following Carollo office locations: Phoenix, AZ /  Denver, CO / Las Vegas, NV / Orlando, FL / Sacramento, CA / Walnut Creek, CA


Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Design, Architect, Implement, Operate, Troubleshoot, Manage, Support and Upgrade - for all Carollo IT Infrastructure including but not limited to Windows Servers, Virtual Environments (Hyper-V and VMWare), Storage (SAN, NAS), Microsoft Exchange Email, Domain Controller, Active Directory, DNS/DHCP Services, Backup/Archive & Restore/Retrieve services 
  • Plan, schedule and implement server patching, monitoring, administration, and systems automation for both physical and virtual infrastructure servers; Deploy and maintain multiple HA (VMware and Hyper-V) virtual server environments interconnected to vendor storage devices in a converged/centralized networking environment
  • Be a senior level escalation for problems/issues, manage incidents to resolution and satisfaction, participate in post mortem discussions and propose long-term solutions. Coordinate and execute changes for production systems and applications
  • Evaluate current processes, framework and documentation; identify areas for improvement, make recommendations and implement approved enhancements
  • Review for capacity, performance and communication bandwidth requirements for applications - both on premise and cloud based services; Evaluate solutions proposed by vendors, identifying best fit for organization requirements
  • Collaborate with other IT functions groups (Technical Support, Applications, Security, Tools etc) in the plan, design, test activities as needed, for projects and initiatives
  • Ensure all IT infrastructure assets are hardened, patched, secured, configured, maintained and services available per SLAs; Enhance, expand and maintain infrastructure and applications monitoring capabilities and practices 
  • Identify to establish and provide Key Performance Indicators (KPI) and metrics to measure and report overall IT infrastructure performance against industry benchmarks; measure, report/summarize data on predefined frequency and identify targets for improving performance over time


  • Subject Matter Expertise in Microsoft technologies and solutions including but not limited to Windows Server 200x/2012, Active Directory, Domain Controller, System Center (SCCM), File Servers, DFS, Azure, Office365 etc
  • Extensive experience in virtualization technologies including Microsoft Hyper-V and VMware ESX, vCenter, vSphere, vCD, vDI etc
  • Advanced knowledge and expertise in the design, architecture, operations and management of Microsoft Exchange 2010/2013 as primary messaging platform with ActiveSync enablement
  • Superior understanding and expertise in deployment and management of AD environments, AD Domain Serviced and ADFS including support for Single Sign On (SSO) requirements for 3rd party and internal applications
  • Superior skills and real-world experience in managing large/enterprise SAN and NAS storage technologies (including FC, iSCSI and other protocols); experience with vendor products from DELL and HP a plus
  • Expertise in Windows Patching technologies and tools (WSUS, SCCM) and experience in creating, managing and maintaining scheduled patching reviews and update cycles for broad based server infrastructure
  • Well versed in internet architecture components of applications and systems such as web, application and database tiers; IIS, MS SQL Server,
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of TCP/IP, SNMP, SMTP, SSL, SSH, DNS, DHCP, LDAP, Samba and Kerber OS concepts
  • Ability to architect systems and applications with HA, fault-tolerance, load balancing, clustering etc; knowledge of Kemp LB a plus; Ability to handle assignments in Certificate Management including PKI, Certificate Authority and Key Management
  • Experience in implementing and supporting Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop technologies
  • Knowledge of Cisco VPN, ASA, ACS and Wireless technologies, monitoring tools such as Solarwinds, PRTG
  • Experience in designing and implementing security controls using native Microsoft Windows tools and 3rd party solutions
  • Experience in designing, deploying and maintaining enterprise class backup/archive solutions including Disk-to-Disk and Disk-to-Tape technologies; knowledge of Commvault is a plus
  • Ability to accurately define hardware requirements for capacity management and application performance management; Knowledge of industry standards and framework (ITIL, ISO, COBIT etc)



  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 10-12years of direct, related experience in Infrastructure with 3-4 years of progressively increasing responsibilities (Admin/Engineer to Sr. Admin or Architect roles)
  • Minimum of 10 years with all aforementioned Microsoft Windowstechnologies
  • Minimum of 8years with Microsoft Exchange, Hyper-V and VMWare ESX technologies, enterprise class SAN/NAS storage platform (including experience in FC, FCoE, iSCSI)


Preferred Experience

  • Master's or other Advanced degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
  • 15years or more total experience in IT infrastructure and related functions
  • MCSE + one of VMWare Certified Professional (VCP6) / Citrix certification
  • Microsoft Certification
