Job summary
The Red Hat Information Technology (IT) team is looking for a Senior System Administrator for the Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) team to join us in Raleigh, NC. In this role, you will work in a small team of system engineers to understand system interdependencies and interactions, collaborate with internal and external teams to define business requirements, and implement highly available and scalable enterprise solutions. You'll contribute to the team's capabilities by demonstrating technical excellence, personal initiative, creativity, learning, sharing, and ability to work as part of a team. As a Senior System Administrator, you will also use your system engineering and automation background to develop, integrate, deploy, and maintain Red Hat's internal private and public cloud solutions.
Primary job responsibilities
- Implement and support the integration and deployment Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) solutions, including both public and private clouds
- Write and support Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform playbooks
- Develop and support Python, Bash, and Perl-based scripts, tooling, and applications primarily deployed on Red Hat OpenShift, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Red Hat Virtualization
- Design, propose, and build innovative solutions to business problems
- Build service delivery mechanisms, including configuration management, containers, and continuous integration (CI) and continuous delivery (CD) automation
- Provide assistance to application teams consuming Red Hat's internal Infrastructure-as-a-Software (IaaS) systems, including client and service configuration
- Provide technical guidance on open source cloud software solutions
- Participate in an on-call rotation, supporting the HCI team’s production services
- Troubleshoot and resolve problems across technology and organizational boundaries
- Collaborate with peer groups across the company to ensure consistent standards-based implementations and practices
Required skills
- 5+ years of experience working as a system administrator in a Linux environment
- Advanced knowledge of Linux; Red Hat Certified Engineer (RHCE) certification is a plus
- Demonstrated working knowledge of AWS, Microsoft Azure, Red Hat OpenStack Platform, Docker, or Red Hat OpenShift
- Scripting or development experience in a language like Python, Perl, Java, Go, or Ruby; Python is preferred
- Experience with supply chain management (SCM) and configuration management tools like Git, Puppet, Red Hat Ansible Automation Platform, or CFEngine is a big plus
