WSP USA's growing Florida offices are seeking an experienced, Senior Supervising Traffic Engineer. This position will be a key hire to help grow our Traffic Engineering practice, including Traffic Engineering planning and design, signal design, traffic analysis, and traffic studies. Responsibilities include:

  • Serve as Lead Traffic Engineer for the state of Florida to build and maintain a Traffic Engineering practice – will lead traffic operations and design tasks for the staff in the state
  • Serve as project manager for traffic engineering projects
  • Work on traffic analyses and crash analyses for DOT and municipal projects
  • Complete traffic studies for private clientele as well as traffic impact study review for municipal clients
  • Will work on Signal Design and Operational Improvements projects, signal optimization projects, as well as traffic engineering projects for DOT
  • May also support design-build or other traffic engineering projects as needed
  • Work on signing and pavement marking design
  • Potentially work on Maintenance of Traffic design

  • Signal timing development and implementation
  • Traffic Signal Design
  • Intersection and corridor improvement studies
  • Interchange modification studies
  • Safety studies (accident analysis, collision diagrams)
  • Signing and Pavement Marking Design
  • Maintenance of Traffic Design



Job Requirements
Minimum Qualifications:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering or related field (Masters preferred)
  • 15+ years of traffic engineering experience
  • Registered Professional Engineer (PTOE a plus)
  • FDOT and FL municipal experience (preferred)
  • Knowledge of traffic engineering and planning software (HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, ArcGIS) preferred (CAD or Microstation experience a plus)
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office software including Word, Excel and Power Point required

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree
  • PTOE
  • Registered PE in Florida
  • FDOT experience
