WSP USA is looking for exceptional candidates for the position of Supervising Structural Engineer for our Minneapolis, MN office. The successful candidate will work on a variety of structural engineering projects with a focus on transportation structures.
This individual will serve as structural department lead in the Minneapolis Office
This individual will also manage medium to large sized projects, and serve as a key technical resource in the Minneapolis office
The ideal candidate will have broad-based, hands-on experience in structural engineering with demonstrated ability to manage internal and external staff as well as subconsultants on both Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build projects and programs
Demonstrated ability building client relations, understanding client’s needs and utilizing company resources to satisfy client’s needs
The successful candidate may work on projects for a variety of clients including but not limited to:
Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT)
City of Minneapolis
A wide range of agencies within the region and beyond
Projects may include local, regional, national and international locations
The successful candidate will be based in the Minneapolis, Minnesota office with infrequent travel expected
Plan, schedule, coordinate and oversee the work of staff-level engineers and technicians in the Minneapolis Office.
Business development and general marketing with an emphasis on bridges and transportation related structures
Growing the region’s business and marketplace share
Professional development/mentoring and training of professional staff and finding excellent talent for future growth in Minneapolis and the region
Establishing or continuing relationships with local and regional clientsto secure backlog and assure future growth
Staff mentoring, training and performance reviews
Project management of small to large sized transportation projects including technical, budget and schedule
Conceptual through final analysis and design of steel and concrete bridges of various types and configurations from simple short spans to long span or complex structures
Evaluation of bridges and transportation structures (vehicular, rail and transit facilities) and the identification and prioritization of repairs
Analysis and load rating of existing bridges (vehicular and rail)
Conceptual through final analysis and design of the rehabilitation of existing bridges
Preparation of final drawings, technical specifications, construction cost estimates and construction schedules for new and rehabilitation of existing bridges
Review of construction phase submittals
Preparation and review of technical reports and cost proposals
Quality Control & Assurance reviews of all project deliverables
BS degree in Civil Engineering or related field
Minimum of 15 years of progressively responsible experience in structural engineering, with an emphasis in transportation/infrastructure
Professional Engineer license in the State of Minnesota (or the ability to obtain within 6 months)
Extensive participation in Professional Societies/Associations is preferred
Good communication skills, both written and oral, in English are essential
Experience should include the project management of multi-discipline projects, including the responsibility and control for technical quality, budget and schedule.
Hands-on experience with structural analysis software such as GTSTRUDL, LARSA, SAP2000, and MIDAS are desirable
Candidate must be able to work in the United States on a full-time permanent basis immediately.
