RESPONSIBILITIES

GHAFARI ASSOCIATES IS LOOKING FOR A SENIOR STRUCTURAL ENGINEER* TO JOIN THE TEAM. THIS ROLE WILL SUPPORT GLOBAL PROJECTS AND REPORT TO A MANAGER OUT OF THE DEARBORN, MI OFFICE.

GENERAL SUMMARY:

The Senior Structural Engineer, with limited supervision from the Director of Engineering and/or Manager of Structural Engineering, will provide the technical, organizational and communication skills to produce well-designed and coordinated construction documents for structural systems.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Review and/or establish project scope, structural budget, and design approach with Manager of Structural Engineering, Project Manager and/or client
• Perform as project lead engineer for larger projects, managing the production effort of staff assigned to the project in terms of quality, budget, and schedule
• Keep current with latest code publications and apply in everyday analysis as applicable
• Ability to formulate firm, well-reasoned opinions based on sound engineering principles.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of drawings and models
• Conduct field measuring and checking at construction site to verify existing conditions
• Prepare construction documents e.g. drawings and specifications
• Communicate with other disciplines to produce well-coordinated construction documents
• Review shop drawing submittals to assure design intent is met.
• Maintain project files containing project calculations, correspondence, appropriate reference material, and other items
• Communicate scope changes to the Manager of Structural Engineering and Project Manager
• Mentor less experienced engineers
• Use available structural computer programs to enhance productivity and verify results with manual checks
• Performs related duties as assigned

*PROFESSIONAL ENGINEERING LICENSE IS REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or Structural Engineering, or other related field required; Master’s degree preferred
• Professional Registration; S.E. preferred

EXPERIENCE

• 15+ years of related experience in the structural engineering field

SKILLS/COMPETENCIES:

• Analysis: RAM, ETABS, and SAP2000 preferred
• Drafting: AutoCAD and Revit
