Job Summary

The Transportation Business Line of AECOM is actively seeking a creative, highly talented and self-motivated Senior Structures Engineer for immediate employment in the Orange, CA office.  The appropriately qualified applicant will be able to demonstrate an established career in Civil Engineering specific to bridge design in California, including the design of a variety of bridge types, and the preparation of construction plans, specifications and estimates. 

The responsibilities will include a combination of the following:

  • Assist the Southern California Leadership with business development and in preparing client proposals and marketing efforts
  • Assist Southern California Leadership in developing and implementing marketing strategies for targeted public sector clients and specific projects in Southern California
  • Plan, schedule, and manage detailed phases of bridge engineering projects
  • Verify that applicable codes, engineering standards and environmental commitments are being met
  • Review and approve scopes, budgets, and schedules for assignments
  • Track overall financial performance of task assignments, which includes coordinating with Southern California Leadership to monitor sold time and work backlog on tasks
  • Delegate work to junior staff, and mentor, train, and supervise junior staff to complete assignments
  • Contact and interact with local public sector clients (Caltrans, Cities, and Counties, etc.) in order to successfully complete assigned projects
     

Minimum Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • 10+ years of experience in bridge design in California, including LRFD design experience, and knowledge of bridge design software
  • Registered as a P.E. in the State of California
  • Experience with Caltrans design policies, procedures, and requirements; and with developing plans and specifications for Caltrans, counties and municipalities
  • Proficiency in steel and concrete bridge design as well as the ability to learn and develop technical skills for unique and advanced design requirements on projects
  • Ability to independently develop contract documents, perform calculations, write specifications, and develop estimates
  • Good written and verbal communication skills, including sales and marketing
  • Willingness to learn to manage projects and track financial status
  • Some overnight travel may be required
  • Must possess a valid driver's license
