Position details:

Job Title: Senior Storage Engineer

Location: Phoenix, AZ 85012

Duration: 12+ months (possible extension)

Description of Duties (primary & secondary):

  • Enterprise storage management; Plan, install, configure, enterprise storage hardware and software for the cloud environment directly or through coordination with other division or department staff.  Responsible for ensuring a functional reliable storage infrastructure for the agency that includes maintaining the hardware and software at a stable level and meets the needs of the agency.  Ensures environments integrity and monitors real time performance and isolates operational bottlenecks by analyzing and diagnosing problems from monitors, dumps and other available information. – 40%
  • Project Management; Either directly or through othertechnical staff will identify the department's storage requirements (immediate or forecasted due to system changes), coordinates the development of decision documents, project plans, equipment/software identification, and installations.  Participates and/or represents the department on internal RFP/IFB document development and RFP evaluations.  Requires little to no guidance, and has the ability to cover other IT disciplines that are outside of current role. - 30%
  • Training and Research; Provides guidance to DTS systems administrators and other division IT staff on systems functionality and it's changes/upgrades to ensure operational understanding as it relates to their responsibilities.  Researches, evaluates and makes recommendations related to new technologies and current technologies that can improve operational processes and functionality.  Also attends education events to stay current with both technical and equipment changes and advancements in the evolving global storage space. - 10%
  • Policy and Procedure Compliance; Ensures on a department wide basis that AZNET, DES, DTS and DCSO policies, directives, procedures are followed and the enterprise storage infrastructure complies with these requirements.  Reviews configuration change proposals for compliance to DES policies and standards, assists in establishing agency IT standards and guidelines. Assess and resolves Service Desk (Request\Change\Problem) tickets for enterprise SAN and infrastructure systems.  Works with outside vendors to engage services and support; Perform routine equipment checks and preventative maintenance; Provide troubleshooting and problem-solving solutions; Attend training and othereducational events to stay current with technical changes and advancements. Performs regular maintenance, monitoring and testing of enterprise storage operations that host critical DES data. - 20%
