Summary:
Illumina is hiring for both a Staff and Sr. Product Manager. Both roles will be responsible for managing and growing Illumina's Oncology assay portfolio, working at the forefront to drive improvement in cancer care, treatment, and outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Business Planning and Strategy:
- Assesses market needs and gaps, opportunities and trends, and competitive landscape for Oncology NGS assays
- Contributes to market and product portfolio strategy
- Contributes to long-term business strategy, including emerging applications
- Develops new product proposals and business cases
Product Lifecycle Management:
- Leads marketing strategy for new and sustaining assay projects, from product concept to EOL
- Serves as primary customer advocate during product development; defines market requirements and drive tradeoff decisions
- Defines product value proposition, positioning and pricing, working with market access, medical affairs and segment marketing
- Develops & delivers content for new product technical & sales training
- Partners with Segment and Regional Marketing teams to provide guidance, input, and support for launch strategy and plans
- Manages on-market products to drive uptake and growth; managers product enhancements, develops promotions and provides sales support
- Interfaces with manufacturing operations, quality and planning to ensure product supply and performance meet customer expectations
- Provides short and long-term demand forecasts
Cross-functional Leadership:
- Creates and fosters a strong team spirit and assumes the role of product and customer champion and evangelist across the organization
- Coordinates relationships with key customers and partners
Skills Required:
- Track record of developing, launching and sustaining products in the IVD market; preferably molecular tests
- Understanding of clinical customers, laboratory workflows and validation activities, from sample to result, as well as downstream activities through patient reporting
- Understanding of global regulatory and reimbursement considerations
- Experience in oncology solid tumor and/or liquid biopsy assays, preferred
- Knowledge of genomics, next generation sequencing and molecular biology products
- Ability to own both long-term strategy and executional detail
- Strong analytical skills, including experience in creating complex market and revenue models, financial analysis; advanced use of Excel desirable
- Experience conducting market research, survey analysis, voice of customer and other foundational marketing and product management activities
- Experience working in cross-functional teams, and ability to influence across the organization at all levels
- Exceptional time and project management skills and ability to independently prioritize competing requests
- Strong written, communication and presentation skills
- Able to thrive in a fast-paced, rapidly changing environment
Qualifications and Other Requirements:
Sr Product Manager
- BS or BA in biology- or genomics-related field; MBA preferred
- Management consulting or similar strategy & analytical experience desirable
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, sales or other customer-facing role in Life Sciences or Clinical field; advanced degree can substitute for some work experience
- 3-5 years in product management, preferably molecular IVD tests
- Ability to travel approximately 20% on average (post-Covid restrictions, not currently)
Staff Product Manager
- BS or BA in engineering, marketing, or genomics-related field; MBA preferred
- 8+ years of experience in marketing, sales or other customer-facing role in Life Sciences or Clinical field; advanced degree can substitute for some work experience
- 5+ years in product management, preferably molecular IVD tests
- Ability to travel approximately 20% on average (post-Covid restrictions, not currently)
