Position Title:  Senior Staff Accountant                              


Position Summary


  • Responsible for the day-to-day operations and monthly closing aspects for straight line accounting and the analysis of rental revenue. Prepare and provide commentary used in the review of the financial statements.


Essential Job Functions


  • Timely completion of the analysis specifically related to the rental expense and straight line accounting including, but not limited to, monthly close schedules.

  •  Prepare entries for the general ledger in compliance with established rules and principles of general accounting.

  • Develop and maintain a relationship with Property Management, Small Cell, and the PEP teams to ensure that policy/procedures within each team are being interpreted & administered according to the company’s accounting policies

  • Implement efficiencies, including utilizing Accounting software to simplify and streamline process.

  • Support implementation of the new Lease Accounting Standard.

  • Identify potential changes that need made to existing policies & procedures.

  • Partner with IT on changes made to existing programs, sharing the discovery, testing, and final resolutions with internal business partners to ensure that the individual processes are integrated into the final product.

  • Coordinate and prepare for financialaudits, providing information to external reporting, and both internal & external audit.




  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting


Experience/Minimum Requirements


  • Five (5) years of experience preferably in the areas of General Accounting, Lease Accounting, Fixed Assets, and Accrual Based Accounting.

  • Knowledge of Straight Line Accounting.

  • Strong General Ledger / accounting software knowledge preferred.

  • Strong demonstration of leadership ability.


Other Skills/Abilities


  • Accounting expertise in basic financial statement fundamentals, ledgers, journal entries and general accounting principals

  • Advanced knowledge of computer accounting software, especially J.D. Edwards and Microsoft Office applications (advanced Excel skills a plus)

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize, organize and work effectively in deadline-driven environment

  • Ability to effectively communicate with subordinates and management

  • Ability to diagnose work flow problems, critical path and institute remedies

  • Expertise in reporting and data retrieval and organization
