Senior Specialist, Legal ServicesOverview
Mastercard’s global Open Banking team and services bring to life our vision of empowering consumers to benefit from their own financial data. Many leading organizations are already using the Mastercard Open Banking platform to deliver some of the industry’s most compelling services spanning lending, payments, account opening and small business. Open Banking is a strategic and fast-growing area of Mastercard's business.
The Open Banking legal team is looking for a senior legal specialist to provide contract administrator and project management support, primarily to the North American open banking team. You will work collaboratively and in partnership with Mastercard’s legal, product, sales and finance teams, as well as with our customers and partners, while effectively managing our contract processes and bespoke projects.
Role
In this role, you will:
• Review, draft, and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts and legal documents, usually leveraging established templates
• Provide first-line advice and triage on inbound contract-related requests
• Develop effective relationships with product development, business, sales and senior management within Mastercard’s Open Banking business as well with as across legal functions
• Have a central role in developing and improving contract processes, workflows and tools to make our team more efficient, such as templates, playbooks and other self-service or training guides
• Provide project management support for our legal team work which is aligned to the development of Mastercard’s Open Banking solutions, managing the day-to-day operational aspects of these projects
• Assist our team members as required in connection with corporate entity governance and provision of corporate secretarial support (e.g., assisting in preparation of board materials and board meeting agenda, maintaining corporate records, and monitoring corporate governance) for Mastercard’s open banking entities
• Manage contract templates to ensure standard terms and conditions are appropriately updated
• Liaise with legal technology team to ensure our team is effectively using enterprise-wide tools and to recommend new tools and technologies as needs arise
Perform other duties as assigned.
Location
This full-time role is based in St. Louis, Missouri or Salt Lake City, Utah. As we are a global team, the role may require some limited travel and ability to support other time zones.
All About You
• Bachelor’s degree. Paralegals and JDs welcome
• Experience reviewing, drafting, and negotiating a range of commercial contracts at an inhouse legal department
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Experience using contract lifecycle management and electronic signature tools
• Solutions orientated with excellent time management, planning and organizational skills
• Experience working cross-functionally with business, legal, and finance team members
• Works well in both team and individual settings, skilled in relationship building and partnering and able to work with different teams and across different countries/cultures
