Harris Corporation Space and Intelligence Systems has an opening for a Senior Specialist, Accounting to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Rochester, New York. The individual will work in a fast-paced environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, and a collaborative team setting.

Essential Functions:

  • Monthly journal entry and account reconciliation preparation 
  • Perform monthly SOX controls ensuring consistent performance and appropriate outputs
  • Answer accounting and financial questions by researching and interpreting and querying data
  • Support internal control environment, both for SOX 404 and DFARS required business processes for fully CAS covered CAS410 Business 
  • Partner with functional groups such as Shared Services, Financial Planning & Analysis, and Cost/Rate Analysis to ensure complete and accurate financial results for both government reporting and external reporting
  • Support application of Revenue recognition guidance
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects to deliver improved processes and controls
  • Act as a liaison to internal and external stakeholders 

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting fields and 6+ years of experience in accounting operations, audit, government and external reporting

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in closing books, reconciling and analyzing general ledger accounts
  • Experience with Revenue Recognition including knowledge of ASC606
  • Aerospace and/or Government Defense Contractor Accounting Experience
  • Public accounting experience 
  • CPA
