  • Brief Description
  • LinQuest is seeking a Senior Spacecraft Engineer to join our team at our office in Colorado Springs, Colorado. Advanced Engineer position for providing specialized spacecraft and sensor design support to Missile Defense Agency Space Systems (MDA/SS) program office. Program offices acquire BMDS components (weapons, sensors, battle management, etc.). This position provides support to the SS Chief Engineer and Space Sensor Layer (SSL) program office.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Evaluate mission concepts and spacecraft designs against mission requirements, including detailed performance analysis
  • Evaluate adequacy of spacecraft assembly, integration, and test plans
  • Work as an SME with cross-disciplinary teams of industry, government, and FFRDCs/UARCs on projects that will result in flight hardware
  • Work with development teams to define payload interfaces and CONOPS constraints
  • Conduct technical analyses and risk assessment in support of the MDA acquisition framework
  • Manage payload related R&D studies and prototype development activities.
  • Participate in program design reviews and other acquisition milestone reviews
  • Requirements
  • Required Skills:
  • US Citizenship and active DoD Secret Clearance, with eligibility for TS/SCI is required in order to be considered for this position
  • Knowledge of space system design, operations, and testing
  • Understanding of radiometry, calibration and estimation of infrared sensor performance
  • Ability to apply disciplined systems engineering practices (requirements identification, architecture development, and validation/verification)
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to travel up to 20% of time
  • Preferred Skills:
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience
  • Knowledge of electro-optic sensor design, operations, and testing
  • Hands-on experience with radiometry, sensor and payload design and development, calibration, test, and analysis of calibration data
  • Domain-specific knowledge of the missile defense mission area and missile phenomenology
  • Understanding the US Government design review process (SRR, PDR, CDR, etc.)
  • Required Experience:
  • BS in electrical, optical or mechanical engineering, or physics (MS or PhD desired)
  • 5-10 years of related experience
  • Preferred Experience:
  • MS or PhD in electrical, optical or mechanical engineering, or physics
