Kforce has a client seeking a Senior Software Test Engineer in Phoenix, Arizona (AZ). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develops and executes software/firmware testing (verification and validation) for Company products
  • Take product requirements and operating instructions and translate them into product tests
  • Will review and develop test methodologies
  • Will work closely with design engineering and will be involved in the new product development process
  • Will manage the software/firmware release process and work closely with manufacturing
  • Review product requirements and documentation
  • Develop test requirements for products
  • Develop test procedures, methodologies, and strategies
  • Write test plans and test cases
  • Execute testing and document results
  • Write test reports and record defects
  • Work with new product development engineering to develop and execute software/firmware testing during new product development and introduction
  • Work with sustaining engineering to develop and execute software/firmware testing for legacy products
  • Own the software/firmware release process, acting as interface between engineering and manufacturing


  • Bachelor's degree in Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science
  • 5 years or more experience performing software/firmware quality testing (Verification and Validation)
  • Experience working with and testing embedded and/or PC-based software
  • Experience using software configuration management systems
  • Comfortable with PC setup and operations
  • Proficient in PC office software such as MS Word and Excel
  • Able to operate basic lab equipment such as power supplies and meters is a plus
  • Ability to setup common networking protocols such as Wi-Fi and Ethernet is a plus, but not required
  • Patience and attention to detail is required to execute large and time-consuming test protocols with the accuracy required
  • Tact and diplomacy are necessary traits for this position; The software tester operates as a member of the engineering group, but must maintain independence to ensure that defects are identified and corrected before software is released
  • The successful candidate will be logical and methodical their approach to testing
  • The software tester operates with a high level of independence and must conduct themselves with the highest level of integrity and professionalism to ensure that tests are performed accurately and completely
