The Opportunity

As a member of Analytics & Cloud Solutions software development team, you will be responsible for architecture, design, development, & delivery of Analytics products predictably on-time with quality. You will have a direct hand in bringing new use cases in to the market and contributing to the success of our Analytics business.

The Job

  • As an experienced Vertica databasedeveloper, you will be working with software development teams to build our Analytics product
  • You will work as an integral member of a self-directed Agile development team employing a Scrum-based methodology
  • Continuous improvement is part of our DNA, you are encouraged to find new ways to do things that will continuously improve daily work
  • Stay current on Vertica and proactively learn modern database technologies
  • Lead the design of a highly performant, scalable, fault tolerant, and secure database platform that has ability to store large volumes of data near real-time and support 100’s concurrent users
  • Responsible for database profiling to identify bottlenecks in CPU capacity, memory capacity, disk IO capacity and network capacity
  • Responsible for design of Database clusters
  • Develop database monitoring best practices


What skills you bring:

  • BS/MS in Computer Science or Equivalent
  • 10+ years of software development, out of which 5+ years in database technologies
  • Hands on experience with Vertica is a must
  • Must be very proficient in SQL
  • Expertise in columnar schema design, data modelling, performance tuning, scaling & fault tolerance
  • Must have a knowledge in database storage system design and capacity planning
  • Self-motivated and able to deliver on commitments on-time all the time with quality
  • Proactive & willing to take challenging technical initiatives that may be completely new
  • Able to work independently as well as within a geographically distributed agile development team
  • Ability to troubleshoot and quickly resolve problems
  • Excellent Written and verbal communications skills are important
  • Advanced problem solving and analytical capabilities
