About the Team
VIZIO's Technology - Software and Services team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the HTML5 App platform team. The team maintains and enhances the platform that enables hundreds of 3rd party Apps to run on Vizio TV's, which accounts for the majority of user viewing hours. The Senior Software Engineer will fix bugs, address technical debt and design / implement new features. In this role, you will be a member of a dedicated 8-10-person engineering team, and report to our Engineering Manager. The position is an individual contributor and will have no direct reports. We pride ourselves on being a collaborative team here at Vizio and to accomplish this, we are in office 5 days a week in our Dallas, TX office.
What You Will Do
- C / C++ coding in a cross-compilation environment.
- Embedded Linux systems and shell programming.
- GDB and Core Dump analysis.
- Software Design and Documentation.
- Debug and write JavaScript code.
- By 3 months, you will be integrated into the team's flow, comfortable in the code base.
- By 1 year you will work on medium to large tasks independently, while
exercising good judgement in cases of ambiguity.
About You
- Completed high school diploma or GED
- Ability to explain technical concepts.
- Seeks out information from other teams,
- Is comfortable with multiple code branches.
- Works well independently and in a group.
- 3+ years of C / C++, including modern C++ with at least 1+ year with C++17 or later.
- 3+ years Linux shell or system experience.
- An ideal candidate will have experience with Chromium.
