Job Summary

Applies a systematic, disciplined, quantifiable approach to the construction, analysis, or management of software. Uses independent judgment to make decisions in day-to-day job responsibilities the majority of the time under general supervision.

Job Responsibilities

The Sr Software Engineer role includes, but is not limited to, development and sustainment of software programs related to the development of training and publications products.

  • Contribute to software engineering requirements capture and analysis in area of domain expertise. Able to identify cross-functional deficiencies in requirements
  • Design, code, test, integrate and document software of moderate to high complexity
  • Ability to develop engineering estimates for Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) and Bid proposals, using applicable enterprise estimation tools, for components and area of expertise
  • Ability to review software defects trends, identify systemic root causes and process improvements and recommend new approaches, tools, techniques that drive continuous improvements in software development processes
  • Capable of proactively identifying and communicating technical software issues and help resolve these issues. Ensure these issues are elevated to project leadership for resolution
  • Mentors product development teams in the utilization of the appropriate Rockwell Collins processes and tools and ability to provide architecture guidance

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM) discipline.
  • US Citizenship
  • Ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance
  • Extensive XML / DTD / FOSI / Schema development experience
  • Java / C / VB programming experience
  • MSAccess or SQL experience
  • Proficient with modern software development best practices and configuration management tools
  • Bid response preparation and estimation experience
