Digimarc is seeking a Senior Software Engineer. This individual will plan, design, develop and test software systems or applications for software enhancements and new products.


  • Develop quality software in a collaborative environment
  • Object-oriented modern C++ and/or MATLAB
  • Occasional development in .NET
  • Work on an Agile team in an open and transparent development environment
  • Work closely with R&D engineers on implementing math-intensive algorithms
  • Work closely with QA on developing tests and coding to enable testing
  • Work closely with the business team to provide technical information, including written reports and PowerPoint presentations of technical content
  • Actively participate in all phases of software development cycle
  • Mentor junior engineers and interns
  • Be a part of dynamic software team in a friendly and flexible work environment
  • Support external partners using Digimarc's digital watermarking technology


  • BS in Computer Science or related discipline
  • 8+ years of industry experience as a software engineer
  • Team player, who works successfully in groups, and can complete tasks independently in a self-directed fashion
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Real passion for programming -- the sort of person who works on projects just for the fun of it
  • Proficient in cross-platform, native code development in C++
  • Proficient in Python
  • Works successfully in Agile cross-functional teams with developers, QA, writers and product owners
  • Demonstrated experience working in a Test-driven environment developing unit tests
  • Comfortable developing low-level code for Microsoft Windows – macOS and/or Linux also desirable
  • Experience developing and optimizing algorithms for code size, runtime speed, and memory usage

  • Experience directly implementing optimized image/signal processing concepts (at least some of the following):
  • Efficient Image scaling and filtering
  • Color handling and color space conversions
  • FFT and other signal processing algorithms (DCT, etc.)
  • Image quality assessment
  • Effective at analyzing experimental data using a statistically-based detail-oriented approach
  • Proficiency in MATLAB
  • Some experience in C# .NET and mobile (iOS) technologies is a plus
  • Experience developing desktop application with common Windows GUI frameworks is desirable
  • Experience programming embedded systems in real-time or resource-constrained environments is a plus
  • Comfortable in assessing compiler-generated assembly code
  • Interest in native-code software security
  • Working knowledge of print technologies and concepts is a plus, such as:
  • Windows printer drivers
  • Windows Graphics and printer frameworks (GDI, XPS)
  • Print description languages, such as PostScript and PDF
  • Internet Printing Protocol (IPP), CUPS, AirPrint, Mopria
  • Strong customer service ethic a plus – Experience supporting / maintaining long-term direct customer relationships
  • Ability to work across different cultures and geographies
  • Handles highly confidential information appropriately
